Project Backpack 2012
Partnering with Families for the School Year! What is this all about?
For the 5th consecutive year, we are hosting a block party in the Palmetto Court community called Project Backpack! The event will take place on Saturday, July 28th from 9:30am-12:30pm!
In the past we have given away backpacks and school supplies together but in light of what we have learned about community outreach and the poverty mindset in the last year we have decided to strategically change a few aspects of this event. Here is how it will work:
We are still going to give away the backpacks but set up a "Mobile Mall" where the parents can buy hugely discounted school supplies at a fraction of the retail cost. We believe this strategy will bring dignity to the parents as well as increase parental involvement in the child's education. We have gathered school supply lists from area schools for each grade and will provide parents with those when they enter the "mall" so they can purchase exactly what their child needs!

Where is the Block Party taking place?Palmetto Courts Park (3501 Dale St, Fort Myers FL 33916)
Directions: From Next Level Church: Take Plantation Rd North. Plantation Rd. turns into Veronica Shoemaker. Continue on Veronica Shoemaker to Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd. Turn left on MLK and take the first right onto Starnes. Starnes will dead end at Palmetto Park.
